So an essential Windows update automatically installed & totally destroyed my awesome little laptop over 8 weeks ago now. Spent weeks talking to 5 or 6 MS support workers who basically gave me links describing 10 fool proof methods to fixing this problem - Not one of which worked even though methodically went through over several weeks. Spent another few weeks then trying to find Microsoft Support people who could give me more in depth help other than just throw links at me and am now in my 3rd long night of abject frustration with various ineffectual Windows Support/Advocates.
Finally at some ungodly hour last night I get my issue upgraded to a higher level of support. Tech support were arranged & booked in to call my phone at an appointed time tonight (7:30-8pm). By 9:40pm there is still no call or message so I contact MS support again to let them know and was assured tech support will now definitely contact me at 10:30pm. Well here we are just before 1:00am & once again no phone call or message. Zip!
MS Windows Support is both non-existent & an absolute disgrace! Not even an sms or email to tell me there is a delay or attempt to reschedule.
On top of that Windows Updates are becoming so catastrophically aggressive to some models of computer that this is very likely the straw that breaks the camel's back & has me (and many others from what I read) finally jumping on board the Apple Mac train. Many public forums talking about this exact issue & there is no doubt Microsoft's arrogance, lack of customer support, and inability to own up to the issues they are causing their own customers will come back to bite them. Lots of discussions about Microsoft's lack of backbone in taking responsibility for their own destructive updates and the standard excuse that it must be the hard drive of the machine that is failing. Then the customer pays good money to find out the machine is fine after all. Sure enough I am also now getting the same treatment, once it started to become obvious that my situation was looking sticky and has been caused by an aggressive compulsory update that was automatically installed on my machine! A company that clearly feels untouchable & now not even trying any more. Disgraceful!
I will now perform a clean install tonight by myself and lose some irreplaceable work, as there seems to be no other option if I want to get my computer working again. Well done, Microsoft, you have just turned me into a Mac user next time I upgrade. Thank you for nothing!
