I know this isn't the biggest issue in the world but it's a daily annoyance.
When I cold boot, I see two lock screen images. I have used Personalization->Lock Screen->Background [Picture] to set the lock screen picture. When I boot, I first see the little 4-window graphic (as is typical) which then becomes the picture I chose. However, that picture then fades and the cave picture is shown. Then I am auto-logged in. As much as it's a nice picture, I'm tired of seeing the cave picture. "Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen" is On.
Things tried:
If I choose one of the other images in C:\windows\web\screen to be my lock screen image, when I boot, the cave picture is shown first this time (it's the second image above), and it then fades and changes into the other picture I chose from that folder.
If I restart (as opposed to cold boot), I don't have the problem (I see only my selected image and not the cave picture after it).
If I add img1.jpg to c:\windows\web\screen it has no impact (testing the idea that the order/name of the files in that folder had an impact).
I cannot move, rename or otherwise modify the images in windows\web\screen to test whether the image is being pulled from there (looks likely given the display order change). One needs permission from TrustedInstaller.
I've changed the settings to slide show and spotlight and back in hopes of resetting something but no change. Similarly, I've toggled 'Show lock screen background ...' back and forth with no impact.
I've changed ForceStartBackground (hklm.software\policies\microsoft\windows\personalization) to 0. I've added LockScreenImage to the same key ("personalization") and set it to my picture (from winaero on changing default, not user, lock screen). Neither of these helped.
Any other ideas on how to make the display of the second image go away?
