Hello,
I have a ASUS UX305F laptop whose Touchpad is not working as it should. It takes inputs like moving the mouse cursor or taps to select or highlight. However all the Windows 10 gestures are not available. Previously, it was working, I could do 2-finger scrolling, etc. I downloaded the latest Smart Gesture drivers / software from the ASUS Singapore website, and tried to install it. However, the installation would abort halfway. This message appears: 'There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.'
I tried contacting ASUS and they don't know what the problem is over the phone. They're also not willing to diagnose it over the phone, insisting that I send the laptop in for an evaluation fee of $85 and a further $85 for software installation. Which is crazy money if the fault lies with their software package.
What I have done to find a solution:
1. Tried different versions of the driver software from all over the web. Official versions. No dice.
2. Reset my laptop but preserving my files. No dice.
3. Rest my laptop to factory condition, wiping everything clean. No dice.
Device Manager shows under "Mice and other pointing devices" that there is only a Microsoft PS/2 Mouse installed. There is no sign of a touchpad device anywhere in the list of devices under any section. I remember there used to be. The touchpad is working fine. So I reckon it's the lack of the drivers that result in no Windows 10 gestures possible.
Anyone has any ideas?
