Windows 10 WONT update from 1803 to 1903

I've been trying for months to get my laptop to update from 1803 to 1903. I've tried the update assistant and using settings to update it, but every time it fails. I've tried at least 20 times to update it, but every time my Lenovo Flex 5 is unusable for a few hours, and then starts up again without the update. I really need the update as my audio recording and voice calling has stopped working.
