Hi All,

I am trying to help a friend who has a old computer running ME.

He can connect to the internet, and can ping domain names, which are
resolved ok, but Outlook Express and IE, and FF both will not talk to
the net, infact neither will Kaspersky Updater.

The modem doesnt seem to go in safe mode, and selective startup with
everything turned off but VxD's didnt help either.

Tried restore points but they all failed to restore.

Have done a full system scan, came up clean.

Resintalled DUN too, and that didnt help either!!!

Anyone else have any ideas, please!!!

Cheers

-Al

Contact the tech dept. of your friend's ISP, while at the computer, and have
them walk you through all the settings.
Heirloom, old and my dog got up too early

modems do not work in safe mode

If the owner never did any updates then 'restore' is broken, there was an update that
repaired the algorythms.

start from scratch....delete all protocols from network setup, and then reinstall.

Nothing wrong with ME, I have used it for years.

Has something changed on the comnputer?
Has Zone Alarm been installed?
Has he changed ISP and needs to update IE and OE and FFF etc.
Have the settings in these programs been checked?

Hello:

At the risk of repeating myself, here is a recent post I made to another
