I am going from Win XP Pro to Win 7 Pro, can I use a 2nd internal disk to save the driver config in order to install Win 7 Pro?

I am going from Win XP Pro to Win 7 Pro, can I use a 2nd internal disk to save the driver config in order to install Win 7 Pro?

Then I would go back to drive D: to copy the driver config for the ethernet, graphics, etc... back to drive C:, which is my primary boot device.


I would be using the "Custom" installation choice for upgrading to Win 7 Pro.
