This all started with a Windows update performed at shut down 2 days ago. When I turned my PC on the next morning, it got stuck at the Windows logo with no spinning dots. Tried to shut down a couple times. Then I saw the Windows logo with Preparing Automatic Repair underneath. It sat there for a really long time and did nothing. Next, I downloaded the Windows 10 installation files onto a flash drive and tried to boot from it. That didn't work so I tried again by putting the ISO onto a DVD. That didn't work either. In both cases (flash drive and DVD), I get a blinking cursor in the top left corner for a bit followed by the return of a frozen Windows logo and again it just sits there. Any ideas? This is an older computer but was running fine until an automatic Windows update caused this. I need a new computer anyway but I'd like to recover a few files off this one first.
