I want to go back from Windows 10 1809 to Windows 7 after more than one year on Win 10. Immediately before going to Windows 10, I imaged my Windows 7 hard drive using Acronis. My data is kept on a separate physical and logical drive. If I simply restore the Windows 7 image, will my PC be restored to where it was but still have access to all the data on my separate data drive? Or has Win 10 changed something on that data drive? All the ‘my pictures’, ‘my videos’, ‘my documents’, ‘my music’ etc are directed to the data drive only just as they were in Win 7.
I also imaged my data drive at that same time when I imaged the Win 7 and programs drive, but I prefer to have all the new and changed files I put on that data drive, which is why I don’t want to reimage both the programs and data drive, which I know would work.
I am trying to think about what issues might occur, like I am sure I would need to reinstall Norton Lifelock to my current subscription. Also there are other subscription services I would need to fix/update or enter key codes, such as Quicken. And does Windows 7 have updates coming even though it is deemed unsupported?
Not that it matters, but the reason I want to go back to Win 7, besides not liking Win 10 very much, is that 1909 on has changed the way Win 10 handles drivers and my PC will not run correctly from 1909 onward (as is the case for thousands of users). And since 1809 will be unsupported, I might as well have the OS I liked much better which is Win 7. Win 7 was a far superior OS for how I use it in the background without needing an OS with ‘features’.
Does anybody have any advice to moving from Win 10 back to Win 7 after more than one year? I had Win 7 Ultimate.
