Cannot open any Microsoft Office 2007 programs

I installed Windows Vista on my computer and now I cannot open any of the
Microsoft Office 2007 programs. I get an error message that says "this file
does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.
Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." Where is the
Set Associations control panel? What can I do to resolve this problem?

There is a forum for "Office" products but...

You say you installed Vista - you mean you had something else (XP maybe)
and upgraded to Vista yes?

Did you reinstall the Office package?

Your documents may have been retained but the programs that make up the
Office Suite have lost their registry entries - at least that's what it
sounds like.

Wait for other suggestions but if you do not install Office properly
from the CDs you risk a lot of problems later.

Hi, Allie.

You DID reinstall Office after installing Vista, didn't you?

You said you installed Windows Vista on your computer. Was this an upgrade?
From what: Win2K? WinXP? Win9x? Or was it a clean install, with a
complete reformat? Or some other install procedure?

Even if all the application files are there, you must run Office Setup so
that it can write all the proper entries in Vista's Registry.

In WinXP, we set associations in Control Panel | Folder Options | File
Types. In Vista, go to Control Panel | Default Programs.

Under the "Help" menu in Office products, like in Outlook,
there is "Office Diagnostics", try running that. If that doesn't
help, reinstall Office.
