Wireless connection to Roku TV "couldn't connect"

My old laptop running Win 10 1909 connects wirelessly to my Roku TV with no problem. However the laptop I just bought, running Win 10 2004, sees the TV, but when I try to connect, it tries for a while and then comes back with "couldn't connect". Trying to add it as a device results in the same behavior. Do newer editions of win 10 have "issues"? Any suggestions? All updates have been applied to the the new laptop.
