Virus?IE/Firefox Fail to display webpage but MSN Live Works-LuCall

Hi All

I have a bit of a problem...

I am running Win XP SP2 and I am connecting to the internet via Broadband.
Webpages are failing to load whenever I try using Internet Explorer and
Firefox goes directly into error reporting mode when I try using that -
however MSN Live Messenger works (which i use on port 80) and also when i use
the diagnostic tool it tells me there is no issue with the connection
settings.

I have also tried connecting at my home and place of work to no avail with
web browsers but ok with other things

I have also noticed that when i go into taskman. In processes I have
Python.exe (which I have never noticed before as running - but i know other
programs can and do utilise this language) I also have LuCallbackProxy.exe
running (another program I havent noticed before) - which lead me to think I
may have a virus on the laptop.

I have run a range of virus checkers on my machine however but nothing
coming up.

Any help or advice would be great

The LuCallbackProxy is part of a Norton product. Do you have a Norton
product installed?

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

So did that solve things for you? A number of people have reported
losing their Internet connection after installing one of the latest
updates (sorry, I don't remember which one). Look in the Windows Update
newsgroup. You can either subscribe to it or read it at Google Groups -
use the advanced search to constrain the search to
microsoft.public.windowsupdate.
