Hi,
I need to be able to type acute accents and other diacritics common in French (but also found in standard English borrowings from French/German/Spanish etc.) The suggestions I have found elsewhere seem to be to make the whole keyboard on my laptop French - but this seems a poor option as then, surely, all the letters would be in a different order.
None of the advertised shortcuts online seem to work. My old Mac had this as standard, you just type apple E and it gives you an acute accent. I'm finding all the complications bizarre and frustrating ... it isn't too much to ask to be able to write cafe correctly without reprogramming one's entire computer or jumping through innumerable and inexplicable hoops!
