I was trying to reinstall XP via a disk for a friend on his old XP computer. It only has 1gb ram and will only handle XP, and he doesn't want to get a new one cause he's an older guy and it's all he knows and doesn't have money to get a new one. So a legitimate answer will be helpful as opposed to ask the sarcastic "get a new computer answers" I've been getting in all the forums. Here it is:
I guess my 10 year old disk has some scratches on it and some DLLs were corrupt and didn't install well, or not at all. After the install I got the BSOD.
So I used rufus and made a bootable USB with a different ISO not from my disk, and it goes through the loading files and then goes to the starting windows step, and again BSOD, but with different errors listed.
I used F8 and tried starting in Safe with command to just boot the restore file, but the computer goes BSOD no matter how I start it. There's also no option for recovery in the BIOS. Please help!
I've tried booting every way I know and I can't seem to get anything from it. Any help would be appreciated.
