We've had an office with an SBS2011 server and a dozen Windows 7 clients for several years. The server performs regular backups of the clients. The clients are all part of the SBS2011 domain (connected initially via "http://severname/connect").
We recently installed a couple of Windows 10 Pro clients that are part of the server domain.
Backup of these fails. It sits at 1% complete for about 15 minutes then it fails.
The backup status on the client shows "Backup was unsuccessful. An error prevented backup from creating a snapshot of the volumes on this computer."
The VSS service is set to automatic and when I start the backup, the event log has an entry that says "VSS Service Started".
Nothing else shows up in the event logs other than an entry about 4 minutes after the "service started" entry that says "The VSS service is shutting down due to idle timeout".
I confirmed with "vssadmin list shadows" that no shadow copy was created.
I can manually create a shadow copy with "wmic shadowcopy call create Volume='C:\' "
Running out of ideas. Any suggestions?
