Windows 2000 Server repeated event

mig1980

Good day everyone. I have an issue that has been ongoing for quite some
time. Every 3 minutes or so I get an system event from Source: Userenv
and states "Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your
computer network. Return Value (59)" The weird thing is that this is
the domain controller. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is
happening? This has been going on since day 1 of this server being
live.

Thanks in advance.

Rob (Microsoft)

Start with DNS configuration
If that is configured correctly, then if you have multiple Nics disable all
but one
Could also be a ghosted nic

To check for a ghosted Nic
run these two commands from a cmd prompt
Set Devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
Devmgmt.msc
Click on view\show hidden devices
Under you network you will see a light green nic
If you only see the RasAsync adapter with a light green icon leave it alone
If you see nics with that icon, right click and uninstall them

Finally upgrade your Nic drivers.

Thanks
