Hello,
I Came back home last night to my desktop computer asking me to update windows. Started the process and went to bed.
This morning, I woke up to a blue screen. Here are all the things that happens and that I tried so far.
When the computer starts, it shows goes through the following 3 screens:
1. Preparing automatic repair
2. Diagnosing your PC
3. Automatic Repair - Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC // 2 options: Restart or Advanced Options
I selected Advanced Options / Troubleshoot / Reset this PC / Keep my files, and I get this:
There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made.
Now from Troubleshoot / Advanced Options, I tried
- System Restore, which tells me there are no restore points created even though I have created many in this last year alone.
- Startup Repair, which gives me the message as before: Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC.
- Startup Settings, and tried booting in Safe Mode, which seems to do so, but then just gets me back to the same blue screen options.
- Go back to the previous version, where I get "we ran into a problem and won't be able to take you back to the previous version of windows...."
I changed the boot mode to DVD and used my windows DVD. Selected the repair your computer option. So I get the options to troubleshoot or shut down... From there tried all the options again as before and got the same results, as expected.
Thanks for your help with this. It is very frustrating as you can imagine to have these problems following a Windows update... I really do not want to have to do a fresh windows installation. Way too many programs and add-ons installed, and I sure don't want to take the chance in loosing any of the files that I have.
Looking forward to solutions to this issue.
Best regards
