Intel display drivers

Using Windows 10 Home version 6004 on Lenovo C340 – Ideapad with Display Adapters – Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 and driver version 15.40.45.5126 at start in November, 2019. Since 1st July auto updating has been unsuccessfully trying to install driver version 26.20.100.7323 with Error Encountered message – “A current driver on your PC may be better than the driver we’re trying to install. We’ll keep trying to install”. However, Update History driver updates for every instance states –“ Intel Corporation Display 26.20.100.7373 Successfully installed on 01/07/2020”. This keeps happening with every auto update. On 30/08/2020 I accessed the Intel Driver Support Assistant and downloaded driver version 27.20.1000.8587 to install figuring that might succeed where 26.20.100.7373 was failing. However, the process went into a restart loop every time. The Graphics 620 Events Log between 30.08.2020 16.58.44 and 17.03.26 records:

Device configured (oem40.inf)

Device configured (oem24.inf)

Device not started (igfx)

The above repeated three times until I canned the process.

Bizarrely enough under the Graphics 620 Properties Driver tab the Driver Version shown is 27.20.100.8587

However, as above, the Update History driver updates are only showing 26.20.100. 7323

Win 10 does not allow selective exclusion of updates from the automatic process and only allows pausing for up to 35 days.

Does anyone know how to successfully install this driver update or exclude from the auto updating?
