Problem with missing mfc110.dll file

I am teaching a University class where I use a software program called CAN-QUEST (not a Microsoft program). Due to the pandemic we are doing remote classes, so my students have had to download this software onto their own computers at home. Some (not all) get an error message that says 'The code executive cannot proceed because mfc110.dll was not found' when trying to launch the program. I have run this program on my desktop computer and my SurfacePro with no problem, but cannot run it on my laptop. From my internet searches, it looks to me like this is a Windows file that is missing. I have tried to contact the manufacturer of the CAN-QUEST software but they have not been helpful.

There are other posts in the Community about this type of error. I have tried some of the fixes, such as reinstalling the program, making sure that Windows is up-to-date, and running virus scans, etc. There are other suggestions of doing a clean boot and then some work to troubleshoot, but I am not comfortable asking my students to do this. I would be afraid that they would do something incorrectly and mess up their computers, which right now are absolutely necessary to their studies.

Is there a way to just get the missing dll file? I found a website that offers dll files for download, but it looked super sketchy and I would hesitate to download something like that from an unverified source.
