I just pulled out an old Windows XP laptop, and found that the power options icon does not appear in the notification area for limited accounts, but it does appear for the admin account.
The option to turn it on is dimmed.
How do I fix it? I have two XP laptops (gifts from people who upgraded), and the one with the 5-minute battery does show the power options in my limited account, but the one with the good battery only shows it in the admin account.
This is the most convenient way to check the status of the battery.
Please tell me how to fix the problem rather than fixate on "that's old and obsolete, get a new computer with Windows 10".
Basically my problem is how do I make it so the checkbox is not greyed?
Oh, the laptop is an old HP Compaq nc4010.
