My wife has a XP machine (Yes I know) and the HDD will not now boot all of a sudden.
I have tried booting from the XP CD, and the machine loads all the drives and then says loading Windows and crashes.

I have read FIXBOOT instructions online but.......
I will put the HDD into a mount attached to my Windows 10 machine as I cannot get far enough in the machine it normally sits in. Will the fixboot process used any windows 10 files to fix the drive? Will machine finish up with initial boot files from windows 10 and put them on a XP system drive, so creating confusion?
Do I have to boot my windows 10 machine from the Windows XP disc to get this to work correctly?
I also see that part of the process is to type bcdboot c:\windows /l en-us /s V: /f all I take it that en-us is English American - I would be en-gb? but this disc is in Chinese Traditional so zh-hk? Would en-gb cause problems later? But it would be nice for the disc to talk to me in English.
