Have presented this problem to MS on line.
This problem requires presenting some background.
I have an iMac computer on which I have installed a Windows PLATFORM.
Using this platform I was connected to a site when it was interrupted by a display showing the word Microsoft in the background. Lots of noise etc.
Further was informed:
Supposed to have detected a Spy Eye trojan intrusion.
Root cause – Security breach network contamination
No network firewall security.
Cost for Basic Firewall Security $699
Cost for Advanced Firewall Security $999
After considerable conversation by phone finally offered Advanced version for $699 which included a senior discount.
I suspected a fishing scam so declined offer.
They installed a program to contact them “Go To Assist” which I have removed.
For the past 2 days my computer has worked ok on both the Windows platform and the iMac platform.
MS online returned this message:
If you need assisted support from one of our advocates, please know our wait times are currently longer than usual. We're sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding
BUT NO PHONE # OR FURTHER INFO. Can not obtain info from MS.
Has anyone encountered a similar situation??
