I have late 2006 imac (run on Lion 10.7.5 - 24" screen). According Apple, it can run on Windows 7 32 bit version.
My main problem is that the late 2006 Imac hangs when it try to boot the windows 7 (white screen).
Here are what I have done:
1. create iso image file from genuine microsoft windows 7 dvd via disk util (change its name from .cdr to .iso).
2. create usb bootable windows 7 drive from the iso via bootcamp.
3. create a new DVD of windows 7 from the new ISO file.
4. Create new disk patition via Bootcamp (it is FAT32 disk partition) and it reboots.
5. I've gotten WHITE SCREEN and it hangs (this is before the black screen and cursor on the top left corner).
then I try1, Boot it from USB drive (from #2) and the Imac cannot see it.
2. Boot from DVD super drive (from #3) and it hangs as soon as I click on Windows DVD icon.
3. Boot from orignal DVD (genuine Microsoft windows 32 bit) and I got same result (#2 above).
Then I try a different way:
1. Install Tuxera ntfs on the Imac and then I create NTFS partition (note: I reinstall IMAC with Lion 10.7.5 from scratch).
2. copy all files from Windows 7 32 bit into the ntfs partition.
3. Install rEFIt so that i can load the OS manually.
4. Reboot the Imac and I click on Windows Icon and it hangs (no black screen and cursor on the top left corner).
I can't think of any thing else I have done wrong.
Any input or suggestion - thank you very much.
PS: I did use VMware fusion to install the windows 7 and it works fine.
