My home desktop (2ghz Core Duo, 1gb ram) runs 2003 Server (mainly so I can
use TS when traveling). It's a recent re-install of Standard Edition Sp2 and
was working great.
Suddenly (I'm sure I had something to do with it), certain functions have
become very slow. Several examples:
Invoking IE6 displays a partially built window for 15 seconds before loading
my home page. It's a lattice-work of blue lines with the previous screen
contents showing through during the pause. Invoking Eudora7 takes about the
same time.
Most other applications start up immediately.
One peculiar one is that if I cut/paste between applications, the paste
takes the same 15 seconds, during which time interaction is frozen.
There are no events logged during the pause, and the task manager shows the
System Idle Process running at 99%.
Where can I look to figure out what's happening?
