Validation issues

I can't manage to use the validation tool on my new HP Pavilion--Active X issues, it says. And that means, I can't do any downloads from the Microsoft site. But as I recall from my PC, there was a compatibility issue with Comcast that I had to correct on my PC to fix this. I had to change the LAN settings on one of my network adapters. I know the settings to use...but I don't know how to change them with Vista--can anyone help? With XP, all I had to do was right click on the right adapter and change those settings. I have NO idea what to do with Vista--I can't even find the settings!

Hello,

If you want to change your LAN adaptor settings all you need to do is open up Control Panel (here I'll describe the steps for the category view) > Under Network and Internet click View Network status and tasks > Then in the left hand column click on Manage network connections > Right click on your adaptor and change the properties. However, I doubt if the Active X issue has anything to do with Comcast and changing the LAN adaptor.Anyways, try changing the settings and if it doesn't work post back and we'll try to fix it.

Maybe I wasn't clear, but I've already done that. And I fail on every Active X test. So...I'm looking for something else, if you can help.

I know that does sound odd...but with my PC, that was the issue. There seems to be some sort of conflict between Microsoft and Comcast, and lots of people have had that problem. So I'll see if I can change those settings on my laptop as well. It took a forum elsewhere to solve that on my PC, and then a Microsoft support guy thanked me for solving the problem for lots of other folks, too, back when. I'll give your instructions a try. I've tried Control Panel...but there's a little more here than I've done previously! Thanks!
