I ran a free-trial version of Verizon PC Security Checkup. It id'd 30
instances of spyware. After removing them, I rebooted. I can no longer
bring up the Control Panel, My Computer, Explorer, or any folders on the
desktop. I get a "Fatal Error - Cannot start Freedom, because the
"Resource" directory or one of its sub-directories is missing. Please try
re-installing Freedom." Internet Explorer 7 also hangs, but doesn't generate
the error. (Firefox doesn't appear to be affected.) Verizon tech support has
been polite, but not very helpful. Any suggestions? I run XP on a desktop
HP.
