Disk player wont work

I have a Lenovo sl510 and having a couple issues... I cant get the dvd/disk player to run once I insert a disk. I hit settings then RUN and nothing..... Any suggestions?? Next I cant get my hotspot on my phone to connect to PC... PC is saying it cant be done , moreless... I think some things need to be turned on or somn... Anybody??
