Windows cold start became extremely slow (4 to 5 minutes to log in screen then slow after login)

This problem started late October after a windows update.

I am not recommending any one do this unless you are an experienced tech.

I disclaim any responsibility if you do this, you are on your own., but it worked for me.

First, I was not able to uninstall Edge.

So, I removed Edge and Edge update from my program files.

That didn't help.

Then I went to reg edit and removed all of the Edge and Edge update entries in two different places under software.

After restarting, the cold start returned to a very acceptable speed.

When the problem started, the working light on my computer was steady for five or six minutes during cold boot or start up. I couldn't

do anything but just wait.

My computer is loaded with graphic manipulating, html editors, and other programs, and start up has been slower than I would like.

However, after the update in October, it became unacceptable.

Now, it is fine and I can start working on graphics or web sites very quickly.
