I have been struggling with a problem for over a month now, with no solution.
My new Dell XPS randomly stopped loading websites on my home wifi, while displaying that it is connected to the internet. This is not an issue if I use my iPhone hotspot or other wifi networks. Unfortunately, I can't be on campus 24/7 and I am out of hotspot data. The same goes for the shop, spotify, etc. Anything that needs internet access won't load.
The error displayed is:
"Your Computer Appears to be Correctly Configured, but the Device or Resource (DNS server) is not Responding"
Where (DNS Server) is any website I am trying to connect to, i.e. (www.microsoft.com). all network troubleshoots say they have zero errors, and I should be connected to the internet. I recently realized my Xbox is having the same issue, so it is clearly a Microsoft OS / wifi router issue.
The biggest complication: The router is upstairs in my landlord's section of the house. If there is some sort of process that needs to be done to the router, I need to know exactly what to do.
Additional Info:
- My old Macbook Air has no issues with the wifi, nor does my wife's Macbook
- I have tried forgetting the network, restarting my computer, etc. 20+ times in all different combinations
- Ethernet cable does not resolve the issue
- Restarting the router worked for 1 day
- I have uninstalled the network ports on the XPS and restarting, didn't work (I believe they are called the ports? Anyway they reinstall after restart)
PLEASE HELP!
