I am trying to use a script to change the default application that opens log files from "Notepad" to "CMTrace".
I noticed that i am not allowed to modify the key called "Progld" in "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.log\UserChoice" through registry edit commands. Trying to do so manually ends in an "ERROR: Access is denied." message.
Is there any way to do this without applying a permission hack but still through the registry? Or is the requirement to do it through GPO the only method going forward?
