I have a DELL PC running Windows 10 Pro: Version 10.0.19041 Build 19041 (64 bit System)
KB4580419 (Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 & 4.8) is downloaded and installed with a status of "Pending Restart".
Restarting the PC shuts down and attempts to restart but hangs before any Windows messages are displayed. (Only the rotating circle of dots is displayed but then stops rotating).
There is no disk activity and no further action (I have waited 24 hours!!).
Forcing a PC restart gives message to say Windows Update failed and system is being cleaned.
After this the PC is ready for use.
However, Windows Update automatically downloads KB4580419 again , installs it and schedules a restart.
Event Log shows:-
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007001E: Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2.
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007001E: 2020-11 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64 (KB4580419).
I DON'T KNOW HOW to BREAK THIS LOOP - can anyone help?
