My current PC is a new build (October 2020) on new hardware, specifically an i7-9700K with integrated Intel video controller. I was aware of the problems with update 2004 and integrated video controllers before I did the build so I started with version 1909 and waited until Windows Update offered me update 2004 on this PC. All went well with update 2004 until the monitor got turned off after 15 minutes of inactivity, when the 'device disconnected' sound was played twice every few minutes. This got rather annoying and it had the side effect that the PC would not go to sleep after 1 hour because the spurious device (in)activity was keeping it awake. I found the following solution, which might help other people. Under Settings -> Personalization -> Lock Screen, I set the screen timeout setting to Never, and under the Screen Saver settings, enabled a blank screen screen saver at my preferred time of 15 minutes. In other words, I removed the screen timeout from the "Power Options" menu and moved it to the Screen Saver menu. The screen now goes blank and locks after 15 minutes, the old fashioned way if you like, and the device disconnect sound has gone away. This method may not save power like it's supposed to but it certainly saves one's sanity. Additionally, the PC now goes to sleep after 1 hour of inactivity.
The 'device disconnect' sound being played spuriously has to be connected with integrated video hardware and Win10 2004 because my old PC, which has a separate ATI video card, never suffered from this problem on any version of Win 10, and it's now on version 20H2.
