The issue is that when trying to create a Virtual Switch on Windows 10 when the computer has been upgraded to a newer version of Windows 10, the operation fails as described on the article below.

Not mentioned in the article, the failed creation of the virtual switch leaves the machine without network connectivity as well.


The Easy Fix provided works for restoring general connectivity to the computer, but it at least in my case did not restore the ability to create a Virtual Switch.



In summary, you need to reinstall windows in order to be able to create a virtual switch after an in-place upgrade?
