So I recently purchased a used ACER V193W monitor, where it is HDMI (Male) to VGA (Female). The cables I have are VGA to VGA, so I bought an additional VGA to HDMI adaptor.
The thing is when I first connected it to my Lenovo ideapad-320 14IKB, it connected at first but it was blinking (screen then black) for awhile. I ignored it and tried to connect an audio cable to the monitor and the adaptor. It had static sounds and then now the monitor is just totally black. The monitor was detected, but it's just black.
I tried:
1. updating drivers
2. updating the new windows 10 black screen update
3. reinstalling drivers
4. changing the wires
5. connecting my laptop to a TV screen (to check whether my laptop is the issue), my laptop could connect to the TV
6. connecting the ACER monitor to an older laptop using Windows 8, that older laptop could successfully connect to it. The older laptop has both VGA and HDMI, so I tried both and both worked.
I am extremely frustrated with this, as I've been looking up for solutions for the past 6 hours.
Any solutions?
