How new a system cab you run WinXP and Win98 on ?

I am looking to build a WinXP/Win98 dual-boot system just for running old games. Is there some type of limitation on how new a system WinXP or Win98 would run on ? I know they won't support more than 4GB of memory, and that drivers are a question, but any ideas about issues related to faster CPUs ? Sounds like an odd question, but I figured I would ask.
