Fiesta
Recently I have been constantly getting the following IE6 error message:
IEXPLORE.EXE-Application Error
The instruction at 0x10003dfb "referenced memory at 0x006e0069". The memory
could not be "written".
Click OK to terminate the program
Click on cancel to debug the program
When this occurs I have the choice of either logging off or rebooting.
Since I am not an expert in interpreting the debug messages, I can not
locate the cause from that source.
Can anyone help me. Thanks.

I stand corrected: Ramesh's utility is a compiled program. I still doubt
PCButts1 wrote his as he has a long history of stealing the work of others
and calling it his own.

A colleague observes:

The PCButts1 tool just does a quick regedit to remove any Home Page or
Search settings, and other misc. settings.

Registers a few DLLs:
regsvr32 /s urlmon.dll

regsvr32 /s Actxprxy.dll

regsvr32 /s Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 /s Browseui.dll

Then empties the TIF and %TEMP% folder.

Apparently your tool does differ from Ramesh's tool.
Ramesh's is an executable file with much more functionality than the simple batch
file that comprises your utility.

To exclude individuals in other groups such as win98.gen, is kind of
snobbish (don't you think?).
No one has a monopoly on all subject knowledge.
In fact, those who started with windows 95 and migrated to Vista are
generally older and might have picked up some very useful knowledge along
the way.
I have 4 computers with Win98, Win2000 Pro,WinXP Pro and Vista Home Premium
and subscribe to all the related newsgroups. I am certainly no expert and
have quite a bit to learn but I am not ashamed to ask and listen to anyone
that might be willing to contribute.

It makes a difference as to what fix the helpers may suggest. Solutions
for Windows 98 and Windows 2000 may differ considerably and what applies
to one OS may not apply to the other at all. It has nothing to do with
being snobbish, if you want accurate answers it is best to post to the
groups that deal with the operating system that you are dealing with, or
at the very least clearly state the operating system involved.

I know what you mean and I agree that there are some very knowledgeable
folks who only frequent select groups that can provide valuable help
about other operating systems, but at the onset you should have at least
let the helpers know that you were asking about a Windows 2000 problem,
it avoids confusion and it helps the helpers decide if they can offer
useful advice. I might be a bit upset if I were to write a lengthy post
to help you fix what I thought to be a Windows 98 problem only to have
you later come back saying that the solution doesn't work for Windows
2000, as it is you are asking about IE on Windows 2000 but you have
posted to Windows 98 and Windows XP groups, I can assure you that there
are many IE fixes that don't apply at all to Windows 2000. For example,
repairing IE on XP is completely different than repairing it on Windows
2000, you don't reinstall a Service Pack to fix IE on Windows 2000! By
posting to these different groups without clearly stating your operating
system you are only asking for trouble.

It appears my problem has been solved with your help.
By upgrading to Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1), my IExplorer
application error has disappeared.
It appears that many of the so-called experts that followed your reply
preferred to either take pot-shots at each other or lecture me on my lack of
providing specific details.
