Windows Explorer, File Download Access to Folders Intermittent Hang-up Problem

Hi

This is really a Win 7 thru 10 Windows Explorer (download window, Explorer look alike) problem. The problem:

1. Accessing a file in Explorer or the windows popup for downloads hangs up. I get the Working icon forever. Can't get out of it.

2. Sometimes rebooting fixes it; sometimes it fixes itself, but not always.

3. Improv fixes: I suspect that I may have too many files in a folder? I create another folder to access files, leaving a minimum number of files in 'Documents' let's say. Have done that over the past 7 years as a partial/sometimes fix. This also occurs when downloading from websites. Windows remembers the last folder and I can't access it, or I go to the problem folder and the popup window hangs up.

4. Now I think if I just change the name that will be a fix, but have done it only once. What I mean is if ex. folder Folder hangs up, I rename Folder to FolderFx1. Now my popup download window cannot find Folder and I am free to go to FolderFx1. This saves me the trouble of creating a new folder and transferring files to that. But this problem often occurs in Windows Explorer itself, just to make sure you see the problem.

OK, What's Up Here?

Is Rename the best solution? Do later versions of Explorer have problems with folders with lots of files in them? I have a lot more folders/files on my computer due to work than in the past (1985-2013). Explorer added all that Library stuff, Quick Access, etc. Is this problem rare, just my curse? Is it possible I am being hacked? I thought maybe it was a hardware problem or some IRQ something or other in the past, but this same annoyance is on my newer computers too. Is there a quick registry fix? If so, where to go it regedit? Is it a broken link of some sort?

Thanks for any help MS Insider folks,
