Windows 10 can't enable Microsoft Print to PDF

Recently noticed that Microsoft Print to PDF was no longer available as a Print option. One suggestion was to disable it and re-enable from "Turn Windows Features on or off".

The turn on/off dialog box showed it enabled, so I disabled it - it reported success.

When I try to re-enable, it says it is adding the feature, and then fails every time with error code 0x800F0922.

MANY websites suggesting fixes to this error. I have tried:

  • Verifying my internet connection
  • Verifying the System Reserved (EFI) partition is not full (260MB free)
  • Verifying the .NET Framework is completely turned on in Windows Features
  • Turning off the firewall
  • Ran sfc /scannow and dism... /Restorehealth
  • Ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter
  • Downloaded the latest Windows ISO image and installed a repair upgrade

None of these made any difference.

I tried installing Microsoft Print to PDF as a new printer (print to FILE), and it fails with "Element not found".

Any other ideas?
