Transfer of Files & Settings

I have a Presario with Windows XP SP2 and I just bought a new Dell Vostro
with the same OS (though there was an offer for Vista Home Basic). Both have
IE &OE 6. Both also have CD-RW. They are networked using a wired four port
Router with two USB printer ports.
I intend to keep both PC's.

What is best way to transfer all Email folders, Contacts in address book and
favorites in IE. Is it better to use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard OR
is it better to copy in a CD and transfer the above. And, as to other
programs like MS Office 2000, Adobe etc and third party applications,
I suppose I have install them first in the Dell OR can this also be
transferred from the Program Files of Presario to Dell?

Files and Settings Transfer wizard from a Windows XP installation CD
(ensures the version you use on both machines are identical).

I would recommend getting some inexpensive external thumb drive (2GB,
4GB...) or if you have a lot of music/files - something like a 320GB
external. After you utilize it for transferring the files and settings in
this case - you can utilize it for periodic backups.

And as for the applications - anything you want on the new computer that is
on the old should be installed by you before you do the Files and Settings
Transfer trick.

I would not use FAST to transfer the OE data.
