Problem occured while I am working in vista

Hi

I have a problem in vista, when I am working at my laptop it
automatically shutdown, when I tried to start it i found an error
message that system32 file missing, repair your OS then I repaired the
OS it's working fine now, but | want to know the root cause of this
error can anybody help me.
