Acer Spin laptop running Windows 10 Home, Brother MFC J5620 .... All settings for portrait but printer delivers landscape (and vice versa)

This problem started this past summer (out of the blue?).

The printer is networked with a desktop PC running Windows 10 Pro and there are no problems with any of the desktop sourced printing. This occurs only for the laptop, regardless of document source: Word, Excel, Internet, PDF, etc. and was not a problem in the years using the laptop prior to the summer.

I have spent 3 or 4 hours reading and doing trial and error to try and fix this - no success

I have not downloaded any third party software or done anything from the command prompt

I have confirmed Windows 10 is updated
I have confirmed all the settings for the printer are portrait
I have uninstalled and re-installed the printer

I have set the printer to default (it is the only physical printer)

The document will show in portrait in the print preview

I can use Microsoft Print to PDF and the PDF views in portrait. When I send it to the printer, it prints in landscape

I have switched settings to landscape and it then prints in portrait.
I have returned all settings back to portrait - it prints landscape.
