I have a Sony Vaio notebook computer with a 1.3ghz cpu and 1.5gb ram.
It came with Vista pre-installed.
As this computer came configured, it was so slow that it was nearly
unusable. After disabling fancy graphics, upgrading ram, and adding
2gb SD card for ReadyBoost, it is running significantly better. I
have performed all available software updates through Sony and
Microsoft. I need this machine primarily for web access. Some sites
that I need to use require IE.
This problem has been present from the beginning and is not going
away. When I type in any sort of text field in IE, if I type at a
normal pace, letters are dropped from words. On average, it is one
letter for every one to two words. Sometimes it is not as bad, but it
is always present. It is worse when the system is active in the
background, not with other programs I am running but with system
processes.
Here is an example I am pasting in from IE which is at a time that the
system is relatively inactive:
"This is a test of typing in internet explorer. Did the proble
magically goaway?"
You can see that things were fine until the last few words. I am
typing right now in Safari for Windows which does not have the problem
at all.
Checking the task manager, there are about 100-110 processes
