Can I plug a drive with windows on it into a windows computer in order to format the drive?

I cannot get into windows at all right now. I think this happened because I was having some other issues, and when I was trouble shooting, I changed my active partition to my C drive. Which I'm pretty sure should be fine, except that I think somehow windows was split between my C and D drive. So when I changed the active partition to my C drive, windows just didn't work.

So my plan is to unplug my C and D drives and then plug my C drive into another computer and format it so I can plug it back into my computer to install windows again. Then, plug my D drive back into my computer and put files I want to save onto my C drive so I can format my D drive and then put the files back on my D drive.

Would this solve my problem if I am right about the cause? Also is it possible that I could mess up the other computer that I am going to format my C drive on if something goes wrong?
