I remotely locked my laptop in the Microsoft account site (devices / find my device) but I cannot now unlock it and get the following error message after using my fingerprint "An administrator had restricted sign in. To sign in, make sure your device is connected to the internet, and have your administrator sign in first." The alternative sign in options only allow fingerprint or pin option and neither unlock the device, looping back to the same message.
How can I get back into my laptop please without having to do a reset / re-installation of Windows and risk losing personal files, apps and settings?
I don't have any administrator options set up as far as I'm aware, but I did manage to access the command prompt via Recovery Options (by a combination of keys on restart); the command prompt opens with the window "Adminstrator: X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe" and the prompt on X:\windows\system32>
Any attempt so far to use commands to modify the start up options / add an administrator and password to be able to get back into the laptop has failed so far (I have bitlocker activated via the Microsoft account for my C: drive so am unable to carry out any commands in C.
I'm surprised that the fingerpint would be de-activated to unable unlocking since this is a very safe form of security, but it's also frustrating that the latop cannot be unlocked remotely from the Microsoft account website either.
Please can you help ?
Thanks.
