Hello,
Issue #1:
The following drive might contain files. If you use a formatted drive with a storage pool, Windows
permanently deletes all the files on that drive. You can't recover the files by using the Recycle Bin.
I could work around that, but it would be painful, however, given my requirements (below), this step should be unneeded.
Issue #2:
I have 4 identical USB drives, call them D1, D2, D3, and DP. Each drive is 4TB.
I don't want stripes. I do want parity. I want parity to be on DP.
DP could be maintained via an application (below), however, an OS driver is preferred in order to maintain parity in real time.
A non-Storage Spaces solution would be fine.
Note: I have searched for a solution off and on for a couple years. There is SnapRAID (SnapRAID) but it is not an OS driver.
Thanks for your attention, stay healthy, and may we all have a happy 2021,
Mark.
