Start menu icons

Say someone has accidentally deleted the folder containing all start menu
icons, and has no backups or restore points created, but has an otherwise
fully funtioning system which has been personalised a fair bit and doesn't
want to have to format.

What's the best and quickest solution to this?

Repair install from DVD?

Hi David,

You might run a "sfc /scannow" to restore the folder and Vista's
default Start Menu shortcuts, but you will probably still have to
manually add the 3rd party programs shortcuts back manually. See this
link for how to use it.
