Ripping a cd

The problem i am facing is that, even though I can play and rip number of cds, there is a set of cds that I can play but cannot rip. The process starts but then there is some strange noise coming from the dvd drive and the process stops. Some of the files are saved in my library but most of them aren't.

So, the dvd driver works with all the cds in play mode but in ripping mode it stops with this specific set of cds. What can i do to fix the problem?
