I have an HP Envy laptop, using the newest version of Windows 10. Having mouse problems, so I tried to uninstall and re-install the mouse. Device Manager shows 2 mice...a PS/2 version, and one that just says HID Compliant. When I unplug the USB dongle, the HID Compliant device disappears. So I know that's my mouse. Plugged it back in, and it installed again.
I then tried to uninstall the PS/2 version, since I don't use one. Requires a re-start, but couldn't uninstall it. Tried three times. Nothing is plugged in but my regular wireless mouse. I'm thinking this "shadow" PS/2 mouse might be screwing up my actual mouse.
I'm here with my question because I don't think this is a mouse problem. I think it's possibly a Windows 10 problem. Any ideas? Thanks.
