Hello all,
I have a Windows 8 laptop which I have not used for several years (Acer Aspire S7 purchased in 2014; however I am not sure if it is Windows 8 or 8.1 and unsure how to check without being able to unlock it).
I wanted to dust it off and use it again, however it will not accept my password to log in (saying the password is incorrect, and providing a website to reset). I reset my password (which I was able to use to log into this website) but the laptop still will not accept it. I let it perform any pending updates as well but they did not fix the issue (it does have an internet connection). I used the eye icon to display the inputted attempts, so the issue is not that the keyboard is not properly typing the letters.
There are no files or programs on the laptop that I need, so I am not opposed to a factory reset, but I don't have a boot disk (it came with the operating system installed and does not have a disk drive) and the Windows sticker on the bottom doesn't include the key. For such an old and not very powerful laptop, it seems a waste to purchase an operating system (at that point I might as well just get a new laptop) but I am open to pretty much anything else.
Thank you for any suggestions! Relevant info below, if you need to know anything else, please let me know.
