Hi all,
I've been having random reboots with my fairly new system that I built in September 2021. When I look in Event Viewer, I get WHEA-Logger 18 events. Reported by component: Processor Core.
Error Source: Machine Hierarchy Error
Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error.
Here are my specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
Nvidia 2070 Super
2x 16 GB Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM
ASRock B550m Steel Legend Motherboard
Corsair 650x psu
I do not do any overclocking, and have been using everything on factory settings, aside from applying the XMP Profile on my ram to make it run at it's rated 3200MHz.
Others seem to be having this issue too: View: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/hq7jcu/cache_hierarchy_error/
The restarts can happen while I'm doing anything, under load or just watching YouTube. Sometimes the desktop goes 5 hours without reboot, sometimes it reboots instantly after entering my password. The reboots happen in safe mode as well.
I managed to slow down the reboots by setting the processor to the base 3600mhz at 1.2 volts, but after trying to set everything back to default, no settings will prevent reboot now.
Things I've tried:
Resetting BIOS & CMOS
Check and log temps
Updating chipset & processor & nvidia drivers
Doing System Restore
Reinstalling Windows
Using a different power outlet
Unplugging external drives
Know if there's anything else I can try, or is my processor damaged?
