I have been running MS Word 2000 on two Windows 7 computers, a Desktop and a Laptop almost at long as Windows 7 has been out. I had no problems until several months ago when the Word on the desktop no longer would shutdown properly. It always says it there was a problem shutting down and tries to locate a fix, which of course it never finds. The other indication is when restarted no longer recalls where it was on the screen, the last size it was, what files were last opened or options recently set in the Normal.dot file. I have tried deleting the current Normal.Dot file but no new one is created. I replaced the Normal.Dot file with the one from the W7 laptop that works correctly. No matter and the Normal.Dot file shows no updated date as if it was not accessed and Word only used its basic defaults to operate. There are also rare times when it will crash from cutting and pasting. I am 78 years old so that may tell you why I have not or desire to invest in any new program. Any suggestion much appreciated. Oh, by the way I also have a W10 laptop running Word 2000 for over a year and no problems there too. I had read on one tech post that W7 and Word 2000 are not compatible.
